niverse and thought

Marc Washington

The period of gestation marks the development of the embryo between conception and birth. This is characterized by the spontaneous and involuntary development of cells, organs, and systems. Importantly, gestation is a time in which thought does not exist in the growing organism especially before the brain develops and experiences are gathered. Not only is there no need for thought, the hypothetical intervention of the thought of the growing organism in its own gestation process would cause such disruption as to immediately terminate the growing process.

No tool, computer, car, train, or plane can be used prior to its completion. No business or institution can operate prior to being properly established. Yet, after their completion they can be used creatively in an infinite number of ways. Perfectly strict laws and rules for construction: followed by perfect freedom afterwards. Significantly, following birth, higher animals begin to think in an evaluative manner. Gestation is marked by autonomic behavior: birth marks the beginning of evaluative thought. The genetic plan designed gestation and growth such that gestation be a thoughtless, autonomic process while life after birth is much the opposite as higher animals are endowed with the ability of evaluative thought. In the case of higher animals, they are acted on and autonomically constructed. But, at some threshold they act on their environment with evaluative intelligence.

And when we consider the fact, it is natural law itself that is automaton-like on the physical level and graduates to "think" on the higher-animal level. It is nothing less than the forces of Nature itself "thinking." It is not so much (wo)man "thinking" as the forces of Nature using the form of (wo)man to "think." We would like to draw attention to the fact that pure, mental thought and imagination (oscillatory in nature) precedes what we form with matter from building homes to putting people on the moon. While telepathy or our own thought is immaterial and oscillatory in nature, we would like to note that every human discovery in technology, the sciences, and social sciences is nothing more than a comprehension of and dissection of the Thought behind a thing. Science dissects Thought.

By "Thought" we mean that even if the universe is a spontaneous, wholly materialistic, mindless creation, its constructs and principles are solely based upon intelligent design (more perfect than anything the human will ever make) and flawlessly subject to deductive reasoning. Enough research and development can provide an answer for and develop anything by comprehending and dissecting the pre-existent ancient Thought or principle behind a thing. Principles 20 billion years old. We find that even given the fact that the universe increases in entropy and disorder, that it simultaneously gives evidence of being highly directed for the purpose of evolving intelligent life. For instance, following thoroughly unbending, iron rules, the periodic table of quarks was followed by the periodic table of elements where under life-friendly circumstances life evolves and is expected to evolve.

Thought and the immateriality of law and matter: While we usually only think in terms of material things, the subatomic particles comprising atoms are wave-particles and are oscillatory bodies (here we are overlooking degrees of freedom). The interface between atoms is electrons where ionic or covalent bonds are not matter per se but waves-particles. All material and biological evolution in the universe is based upon wave interactions. Also, at the subatomic level, there is no matter per se in the universe, only wave-particles – which are usually oscillatory waves.

The intelligence-driven co-ordinated hand-dexterity utilized by the fastest, most brilliant needle-worker that history has produced is an orders slower and simpler operation by comparison than two wave-state quarks in interaction in a proton in that person's hand. In each case, immaterial oscillatory law moves matter: orders from the brain move the hand while the invisible strong force law moves quarks. Two invisible forces – brain waves and natural law – fashion matter into intelligent constructs: one makes cloth, the other makes the human cloth-worker. Only for some mere decades has the human race even known of the quarks and gluons that comprise and help bestow intelligence upon us. If we say that the creation of the needle-worker is more intellectually challenging than the design the needle-worker makes, this would lead one to suppose that the immaterial oscillatory forces undergirding the matter which move hands – and move matter to make hands – is in its essence Thought.

The universe is so well-organized (humans will never duplicate the feat and please explain how a universe can occur by random action) that it gives evidence of being pure, living Thought. That would seem to escape us for Natural Law on the physical and chemical level is so fast, automaton-like, and directed that it would not give the appearance of Thought. However, it would appear that should the universe have been designed, that just as gestation, or product development, or the formation of a business must follow strict, unbending laws to create the finished body to which freedom is given, that the same principle holds in the universe.

Just as violating the blueprint in gestation, product development, or business formation would create total dysfunction, so too would the physical universe and biological life not be able to be created if the blueprint of physical law could be violated on the sub-atomic or chemical level. Just as birth is the threshold allowing higher animals to have evaluative intelligence and independence, so too it would seem that Nature would obtain the power to impute the ability to think in physical beings only after the conditions of life had been met: only after having periodic tables of quarks and elements, and having favorable life conditions.

It would seem that Natural Law fixed the Thought of Nature such that wave behavior would appear to be the inviolable laws and iron-clad discipline that Nature imposed upon herself. As stated, there would be no need for freedom here (as opposed to degrees of freedom) and freedom to "break the rules" would nullify Nature's chance to evolve. It would appear that Nature's rules run straight through biological life in the sense that animals have autonomic behaviors and instinct: while at the same time they can think. Here, a different view is taken from the evolutionists: just as no two snowflakes are similar – due to the creativity of Nature using nonetheless identical principles in their constructs – so too, living forms would seem to be acting out pre-written scripts on how to form an infinite variety of corporeal and behavioral forms given certain conditions as in yellow plus green produces blue. That law was always true. And when they meet, blue is manifested. And, such here is believed to be the case with biological evolution: i.e. given certain circumstances, the broad outlines (not details) would follow pre-existent patterns, molds, behaviors, forms. How would this be an engine of evolution? Of human thinking, Von Neumann wrote that:

Frequency (in nerve pulses) ... is a property of a single train of pulses whereas every one the relevant nerves consists of a large number of fibres, each of which transmits numerous trains of pulses. It is, therefore, perfectly plausible that certain (statistical) relationships between such trains of pulses should also be transmitted information. In this connection it is natural to think of various correlation-coefficients, and the like.1

This is relevant given the oscillatory nature of the wave. "Thought" is codified in wave behavior. On the level of atoms perhaps the pulse is simple. But on the level of the molecule, protein, gene, and cell, just as the relationship between various trains of pulses transmits information, perhaps it is just this sort of information that fields of proteins being formed in the gonads contain where the gametes will form a zygote with all the information needed to create a whole living organism down to the hair-line and each strand of hair: all the information needed to re-create itself (just as simple waves recreate) some 1014 times in a mature mammal with cell differentiation. And, perhaps evolution is not all random, but some portion of time the result of the evaluative intelligence of protein or gene fields.

There are two points to consider when evaluating where information is stored and how much is stored there. First, each hydrogen atom is a microcosm of the physical universe and natural law. With the exception of the weak force, hydrogen has quarks, leptons, photons, gravitons, and gluons: i.e. a summation of all forms of forces and matter that exit. Sometimes natural law is additive where the universe is 75% hydrogen and hydrogen clouds condense to form galaxies. Condense further to form stars. Condense further to make spherical galaxies. Condense further to draw some stars and galaxies into black holes. All this is only the additive effect of gravity. What we see as Natural Law or Galactic behavior is only the additive effect of the properties of hydrogen and particularly the influence of gravity on it.

Where is information stored and how much is stored there? All elements are only various groupings of hydrogen. Meaning all the information needed to form any physical or biological structure is in hydrogen. The point is that perhaps universal information is contained in each atom. In addition, whereas we divide the world into the animate and inanimate, when we breathe carbon dioxide, drink water, or take in sunshine, these "inanimate" things bring an ability to comprehend the most intelligent of living organisms and furthermore possess the ability to become part of any organ and function perfectly within it from the kidney, to the heart, or brain. These inanimate things immediately start laughing, crying, planning, and thinking unobtrusively and completely on each of our levels. The great intelligence would not seem to be in the Einstein's of the world, but in the intelligence behind the ability of Nature to form the zygotes which create all forms of life, beauty, and intelligence.

If the above ideas are true, this would only fit the ideas we have of God as being omniscient, omnipotent, omnibeneficient, and omnificient. The above only describes the Nature of God in physical terms. Yet, as a human body has hundreds of millions of viruses from time-to-time (living creatures within totally oblivious to their host) is it possible that we dwell simultaneously with the Living God and are similarly unaware of the fact and unable to prove or disprove it?
